TAIM (Think About It Moment)

What is going on?  In the past couple of months, several times, I have asked that question—once during Bethany’s Vacation Bible School.  I was walking up the stairs and noticed people outside on the ramp, staring at something.  Many of them had their phones out taking pictures. Others were weaving their way around those captured by the moment, without a clue of the attraction—a beautiful double rainbow.

A few weeks later I was walking out of Walmart and the same thing was happening!  I confess, I was curious as I walked out to see what they were seeing.  Once again I noticed how some were oblivious as they just kept walking along.  Suddenly I noticed it—a beautiful, bright, colorful rainbow!  Soon, I too, had my phone out taking pictures of this beautiful sight!

What is it about a rainbow that causes us to ooh and aah?  Could it be it’s a sign that the storm is ending?  Maybe it’s the beauty of the prism of colors as the sun shines through the moisture in the sky.  For some it may be the ever elusive ‘pot of gold’ at the end of the rainbow.  Maybe, just maybe, we are drawn to the presence of God upon the earth!

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:  I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”
Genesis 9: 12&13

Seeing the rainbow, I stopped what I was doing and gazed upon the beauty.  Was it the beauty of the rainbow that slowed down my pace, or deep within was it a reminder from God of His presence?  Seriously, how often do we fail to see God’s presence?  In your busyness have you missed those God moments orchestrated just for you?  Are you so busy running through life that you miss the presence of the One who gave us life?

“Be still before the Lord, all mankind, because He has roused Himself from His Holy dwelling place.”  Zechariah 2: 13

“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 46: 10

Many of us are saying, “Where has the summer gone?”  Others have mentioned how 2014 is flying by so quickly.  The real question is:  Have I taken the time to see and be in God’s presence?  Don’t miss the presence of God!  I know our time is valuable, but what’s time worth if we miss the glorious beauty, and peace, of God’s presence in our life?

Think about it!

Blessings,

Pastor Dennis
